What’s in a name?
When it comes to the stuff we install on homes and businesses as well as cars; you might already have an opinion on the exact noun to use.
This isn’t a debate between what I call “soda” or you call, “pop.”
This isn’t an argument between “Hero”, “Sub” or “Hoagie”.
Whatever you choose to call what Advanced Film Solutions does for a living, it makes a huge difference for online marketing, GOOGLE, Bing and hashtags.
I prefer to call this window film.
My personal bias was based on my 33 years at 3M.
That’s what in the “Mining” called it back in the day.
Frankly, we decided that window tinting was only for cars while window film was for flat glass like your home or storefront.
You see 3M elected to focus on flat glass because of the tint laws across the USA and we didn’t want to compete in that market.
We did give it a whirl in 1994 or so with our 3M Panther Black film but that didn’t work out very well and we decided to hold off until 2002 or so when we decided to re-box a competitors’ film and call it FX.
While we were in our own vacuum chamber the rest of the world was calling it anything they felt like calling it.
Glass tinting, car tinting, solar film, auto tinting, automotive film, sun control tinting, window tint, window tinting, car film—well you get the idea!
